Brainwave Parents Connect Facebook Group
Brainwave Connect is a safe and welcoming meeting place for parents of children registered with Brainwave to come together. This online group offers parents a friendly, supportive platform to share their thoughts and ideas, as well as hear the latest news from Brainwave.
Connecting Families
In-hospital support
Your hospital contact will be able to give you a Bear Essentials Pack and our Catch a Break program. We can also provide emergency accommodation support for families living more than 100km from the hospital
Mums Groups (Victoria)
Thanks to Carers Victoria and the Hansen Little Foundation, Brainwave runs 8 Mums Groups across Greater Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat. Mums are invited to an evening of painting, ceramics or other activities at a local centre over a pizza and drink to meet other Mums in a safe, welcoming place.
Dads Group (Victoria)
Thanks to the Victorian Government’s Dept of Health, Dads come together over an evening’s activity each quarter to meet other Dads.
Camp Brainwave (Victoria)
Camp Brainwave is run in October over 3 days/2 nights for 15 families for all ages and abilities. Families can reconnect in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment and meet other families with a range of indoor and outdoor activities such as canoeing, rope swing, archery and animal feeding.
Family activity days
(Vic, NSW & Qld)
A day out at zoos, animal farm and indoor playgrounds in the Easter, July and October school holidays allows families to engage in experiences together as well as meet with other families in similar situations and build key peer support networks.
Christmas Parties (Victoria & NSW)
Brainwave Christmas parties are a special time for families to connect, celebrate, and make wonderful memories with Santa, face painting, letter writing, photo opportunities, and rides.
The Victorian Christmas party is on the first Saturday in December at Luna Park from 9am-11am.
Kids and Sibs
Kids and Sibs is a popular Brainwave school holiday program. This unique event provides an opportunity for inclusive play between Brainwave children and their siblings. Kids and Sibs is an action-packed session where children of all abilities can bounce, climb, and swing in a safe and supported space.
The event encourages children to develop new friendships and draw inspiration from one another. Kids and Sibs is a hugely successful program and a favourite for many of our Brainwave families.
