Here at brainwave, we have a variety of ways we can help you if you need to access hospital care for your child.
We provide Bear Essential Packs to hospitals in case of emergency overnight stays, we grant hotel funding if you need to stay extra nights at the hospital without knowing; and we provide the ‘Catch a Break’ program which helps with unexpected and ongoing costs associated with a child’s long-term hospital stay.
Bear Essential Packs
Brainwave’s Bear Essentials Program supports families by providing care packs distributed through hospitals nationally. After being delivered the overwhelming news that your child will need to spend an extended period in the neurological ward, it helps to have some everyday essentials at hand. Each Bear Essentials Pack includes toiletries, practical items, and a little bit of love. Packs also contain a teddy bear, created in memory of an inspirational boy called Luke Ryan.

The effect
The packs supply families with instant relief and essentials they may need when they unexpectedly go into hospital for a night. It allows families to focus their full attention on their child, knowing we will be there to support them in urgent times. Taking away unnecessary stress one pack at a time.

Catch-A-Break Program
Families often experience significant financial strain when faced with unexpected, ongoing costs associated with a child’s long-term hospital stay. Brainwave works in consultation with hospital social workers to ensure that disadvantaged families have access to urgent financial support. Brainwave assists with emergency accommodation for families traveling outside of metropolitan areas and meal and beverage vouchers.
