In Hospital Support

Here at brainwave, we have a variety of ways we can help you if you need to access hospital care for your child.
We provide Bear Essential Packs to hospitals in case of emergency overnight stays, we grant hotel funding if you need to stay extra nights at the hospital without knowing; and we provide the ‘Catch a Break’ program which helps with unexpected and ongoing costs associated with a child’s long-term hospital stay.

Bear Essential Packs

A child’s brain disorder diagnosis and hospital stay are often unexpected. Brainwave’s Bear Essentials Packs has been designed by our Parents Advisory Group to give children and their families support in hospital by providing activities and care essentials including toiletries, ear plugs, gum, non-slip socks, colouring book and pencils, puzzle book, pen, note book, cup and herbal tea bags, and a teddy bear, called Lukey Bear, created in memory of an inspirational boy called Luke Ryan.

Catch-A-Break Program

Families often experience significant financial strain when faced with unexpected, ongoing costs associated with a child’s long-term hospital stay. Brainwave works in consultation with hospital social workers to ensure that disadvantaged families have access to urgent financial support. Brainwave assists with emergency accommodation for families travelling outside of metropolitan areas and meal and beverage vouchers.
