On Sunday 19th April, 150 Brainwave children, parents, carers and volunteers were treated to a special day out at the Enchanted Adventure Garden, at Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsula. The cold snap, wind and showers did not stop families from huddling together under the warmth of the Big Top Marquee; colourfully themed, thanks to Whirly.com. Together families enjoyed a spit roast buffet fit for a king and were entertained by Sim the mischievous pixie and the delightful fairy Caitlin. Together with facepainters; James and Antonella, the roving entertainment warmed the hearts of Brainwave children and families. When the sun managed to peak from behind clouds, families made their way to explore the enchanted mazes, fantasy gardens, obstacle courses and joined in the fun of the tube slides. It was lovely to see families join in the spirit and enjoy the day despite the wild weather.
The day could not have been made possible without the generous support of the Frank and Flora Leith Charitable Trust and the ground support of our corporate volunteers; Mercedes-Benz and QBE and community volunteers and staff. With a small part-time staff of five; Brainwave Australia is proud to be considered as a small charity that does big things. Being committed to a cause that can bring smiles and happiness to children living with a neurological condition and their families is worth every effort.
