Dylan

Dylan lives in Melbourne with a loving Mum and Dad and adoring sister called Anya. Dylan has multiple disabilities including brain damage, cerebral palsy and is hearing impaired.

Due to Dylan’s conditions and the expenses related to ongoing weekly physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and behavioural therapies, Dylan’s parents had exhausted their government funding and have since self-funded these services, which has taken a huge financial toll on their entire family. Brainwave were able to assist Dylan with therapy funding to continue this necessary work.

Dylan’s mother explains, “We came across Brainwave online and last year we were lucky enough to receive funding from Brainwave. We applied for funding to help pay for one of Dylan’s ongoing therapies; psychology. Dylan sees a psychologist once a week for one on one sessions in-home. The work she does with Dylan is vital for his ongoing progress. She works with Dylan to help with behavioural issues and cognitive skills. This is critical to assist Dylan to stay involved in family life and the world around him.

Dylan is a happy little boy but does struggle daily with many tasks and situations. Gifts of kindness in the form of funding help families like ours hugely, emotionally and financially. Therapy has helped Dylan learn on his level to connect/play with his sister, feed himself, hold a pen etc.

We as a family celebrate the small milestones he makes! We are very grateful for Brainwave’s help and look forward to an ongoing relationship with Brainwave.” Zoe, Mother of Dylan.
