Kids and Sibs Wrap Up

Brainwave hosts a range of fun filled family events throughout the year. Our Kids and Sibs day is one of our most popular and for good reason..!! This event is unique in that it brings together families—it provides an opportunity for inclusive play between the Brainwave child and their siblings—all abilities are catered for at ‘Kids In Motion’ located in Port Melbourne.

This hidden gem of a venue is run by David Hannan and his team who work closely with children of all abilities to inspire, encourage and most of all bring sheer joy at this holiday program event.  Program Manager, Laurence says, “It is heart-warming to see children that are wheelchair bound being hand held and supported through their paces. One little boy Bohdi was ecstatic as he used his upper body to crawl along the mats eagerly trying to keep up with his peers. The positive spirit and attitude these children bring to events is an inspiration to us all”.

Brainwave would like to thank the seventeen families who made the trip to Port Melbourne in the blustering cold and wet weather. Once inside, the team at Kids In Motion soon had everyone warmed up with a host of fun activities including trampolining, rock climbing, swinging from hoops and more. When little one’s tired, we had a face painter on-hand to provide some much-needed quiet time.

The morning workshop finished with a circus show by the talented Shannon McGurgan, a larger than life character who cajoled the kids and adults and had everyone laughing out loud with his silliness and comedy routine. He also happens to have some of the best acrobatic skills which had the group gasping in amazement.

The unsung heroes of the day were our wonderful volunteers from Mercedes Benz and QBE. They brought passion, laughter and enormous smiles to the event along with a deep sense of care for our families. So many times we heard comments about how wonderful the volunteers were which makes us very proud of our association with our corporate partners.

On behalf of Brainwave, we would like to thank Guardian Medical and Kids In Motion for generously supporting this event and for allowing Brainwave to continue to make a difference to the lives of the children and families it supports.

We look very forward to doing it again soon…
