The ever-popular Brainwave Kids & Sibs School Holiday Program was enjoyed by even more families this year, thanks to the generosity of event sponsors, Kids in Motion and Guardian Medical, enabling us to run two sessions throughout the day.
The focus of this event was inclusivity, providing a unique and important opportunity for inclusive play between Brainwave children and their siblings. Each session provided adventure and thrills galore, in a safe, supportive, friendly and fun environment at Kids in Motion, Port Melbourne. Children were challenged to explore their physical limits as they climbed, bounced, ducked, weaved, flipped and swung, with the support of skilled staff and volunteers.
Some of the challenging activities the Brainwave children and their siblings tried, and conquered, included indoor rock climbing, trampolining, climbing ropes, swinging on hoops, tumbling on mats and scoring goals in basketball rings.
Families were also treated to an hilarious performance by ‘The Svens’ (aka Paul Bourke and Cam Venn). Much laughter ensued as fictional Marine Biologists, Sven and Sven, took the audience on a highly entertaining underwater submarine adventure to Atlantis!
Working closely with children of all abilities to inspire, encourage and bring absolute enjoyment daily, the team at Kids in Motion, led by David Hannan, brought high levels of energy and enthusiasm to Brainwave’s Kids & Sibs day, and were wonderful mentors for the children. Brainwave is extremely grateful for, and proud of, the strong partnership we have with Kids in Motion.
We are also very proud of our association with our corporate partners and community volunteers, whose invaluable support enables us to continue to make a difference to the lives of the children and families we support. We are very grateful to the fabulous teams of volunteers from Mercedes Benz, QBE and the community who gave so generously of their time to ensure the Brainwave children and their siblings were treated to a well-deserved, very special day out at Kids & Sibs 2019.
Looking forward to tons and tons of tumbling fun all over again next year!
