Christmas Party 2015 – NSW

Brainwave NSW families were treated to a spectacular Christmas celebration at Luna Park in Sydney! What a location– overlooking the Sydney harbour; the place came alive with roving entertainment and oodles of people to enjoy all that was on offer.

Brainwave is proud to host our families at Luna Park each Christmas. This year the Brainwave party was held in the popcorn hall; with a splash of colourful tablecloths, balloons and Christmas music, the room really came to life. Adding to the atmosphere was a mischievous elf to warm the hearts of young and old, face painters and a photo booth to keep families amused and the jolly big man in red managed to draw quite a crowd..!

Families were treated to all day rides, game tokens, ice-cream, refreshments and an endless supply of delicious Ferrero Kinder Santa’s.

This event would not be have been possible without the generous support of the volunteers, representing Ferrero, QBE and long-standing community volunteers. Programs Manager, Laurence Hennessy said, “it is so pleasing to see the friendships that have grown between the families and our volunteers. We love and appreciate them all but have to make special mention of Ferrero and our lead volunteers Richard, Laura and Jorge for everything they do to make this event and others throughout the year run so smoothly”.

This year the QBE Foundation selected Brainwave Australia as one of their charities to support and it was so wonderful to see QBE staff join in on the day. We look forward to involving more staff in these event experiences over the coming year.

Finally, to our amazing Brainwave families - a big thank you for participating and for allowing us to be a part of your lives. The Hartin family had a great day and said, “thank you for a wonderful day, my children laughed so hard together. It warmed my heart to see them so happy in the lead up to Reece's neurosurgery”.

This is a poignant reminder that Brainwave families are the inspiration behind what we do —we love that we are able to make lives a little brighter throughout the year and look forward to doing it all again next year.
