Brainwave Christmas Luna Park – Sydney

On Saturday 10 December, approximately 250 Brainwave children, parents, carers and siblings joined Brainwave in celebrating Christmas at iconic Luna Park on Sydney Harbour. The day was sensational!

The big man in red made a spectacular entrance as he was cheered and applauded into the room. Ringing his bell, the children flocked to his side all wanting to feel his beard and his warm embrace. Listening patiently to each child’s story and with the help of his elves, the children were treated to special gifts, complements of Burberry.

The Popcorn Hall was adorned with Brainwave balloons, coloured table clothes and tinsel for the occasion. Families were treated to a light lunch of sandwiches, fairy bread and sweet delights. Each year we like to add a touch of magic and this year the children could craft their wish list for Santa at the letter writing station- complete with Santa’s letter box – complements of Ferrero.  Many children enjoyed this addition. The Santa photo prop table provided an excuse to be silly and to have fun with your family.

According to Laurence Hennessy Programs Manager, “for many families the Brainwave Christmas Party is a date etched in the family calendar. Luna Park affords families the opportunity to come together and have fun. It was so lovely to see families reconnect, to meet new members of the family and extended family. Brainwave truly is a community. To know our families and travel alongside their journey throughout the years; supporting families where and whenever we can is what Brainwave stands for.”

We cannot extend enough thanks to the staff from Ferrero, QBE and Burberry who gave their time to come along and volunteer on the day. We hope that you all enjoyed the experience. To see you all having fun and interacting with our families; with some even dancing, is testimony to the spirit of the day. A special mention to Richard and Jorge; long term volunteers of Brainwave. They are a large part of our Brainwave community and we are thankful for their contribution.

Finally we hope that every child and their parent/carer enjoyed the occasion and was able to explore the joys of Luna Park. We wish all our families the very best for Christmas and the new year. May 2017 be full of hope, prosperity and good health.

From the Brainwave team.
