We had a great turnout at our recent Sydney Family Day, held on Sunday 25th March. Over 40 families attended and enjoyed a unique wildlife experience amidst the natural flora and fauna at Featherdale Wildlife Park. The day was topped off by the glorious autumn weather and sunshine.
Squeals of laughter reverberated in the park as children got up close and personal with “Cuddles” the Python, “Chloe” the Koala, plus a myriad of kangaroos, emus, penguins, reptiles and birds. However, a safe distance was kept from the large scaly crocodile, as little awestruck eyes looked on! A face-painter was also on hand to create colourful masterpieces on the children’s faces, which is always a favourite at these events. Now, a family day isn’t complete without a yummy hot BBQ lunch which was enjoyed by all, followed by lots of free time to explore the grounds. There were also plenty of great photo opportunities on the day, some of which can be seen below.
The Family Day is part of our annual Care Programme which aims to help break the isolation for the families and children we support. It was such a delight seeing the children make new friends on the day whilst their parents chatted with others and shared their experiences, which helped them feel less alone.
We want to extend a big thank you to the Brainwave Volunteers who helped on the day, as well as the staff at Featherdale Park who all did a fabulous job and helped make this event a great success.
