A very real problem for children with brain illness and their families is one of isolation. Care for the child is often a full-time job - and friendships, sports occasions, holidays, and even visits to other family members tend to get put on the back burner. There is a lack of connection, and often a sense of lack of understanding and support. The Brainspace web forum aims to “connect people” who are “in the same boat” in real time so that they can build a network of understanding and a valuable shared knowledge base.

Children with brain illnesses will be able to chat with other sick children and share their feelings and concerns. Similarly, parents can be in touch with each other so that they don’t feel alone in tackling the challenges. Siblings (often feeling a sense of neglect when the family focuses on the sick child) can also contact each other and talk over their points-of-view in confidence. Social workers and medical staff can also come on-line to assist with information and support. In other words, Brainspace can be summed up in just one word: Empowerment.

Brainspace is a closed and private forum set up for the Patients, Parents, Siblings touched by Brain Illness and Medical Practitioners who work in this field. If you are interested in contributing to this forum, you will need to register and be approved as a legitimate contributor. You can start the registration process here.

Brainspace is for the sick children, their parents, siblings, medical and social workers. The privacy and protection of our patients, families and siblings is our highest priority which is why a 2 business day approval process is in place to ensure all participants are legitimate.
Additionally, each of the forums are ‘closed’ - so parents can speak to parents without children accessing this, patients to patients, and siblings to siblings. You can also retain an anonymous identity should you choose to.
