Brainwave Charity Gala 2011 - Sydney

Register for tickets to the 2011 Charity Gala

Saturday 30th July 2011
Westin Hotel

We are excited to invite you to participate at Brainwave’s 2011 Charity Gala. Held annually, in both Sydney and Melbourne, the Charity Galas are the key fundraising events for Brainwave Australia. Through the aid of ticket sales, raffle sales and a Live Auction, the Charity Galas enable us to raise a significant portion of funds required to continue our support of children suffering from brain illness.

A dedicated team of experienced professionals form our organising committees, sourcing auction and raffle prizes, securing sponsors and promoting the events in both states.

Each year the Galas are attended by a range of celebrities, either as special guests or in the role of Master of Ceremonies, or Auctioneer. Guests will enjoy a sumptuous 3 course dinner, quality wines, a live band and floor show! The theme for this year’s Gala is The Buenos Aires Tango Club. This will inspire a tango flavour and promises to provide an exciting night!

The Gala will include a live auction with ‘money can’t buy experiences’.

XMAS PARTY AT LUNA PARK

Brainwave families in both Sydney and Melbourne recently enjoyed a fun morning at Luna Park. Children were entertained by Santa, face painters, balloon artists and a roving jazz band whilst also enjoying unlimited rides!

A big thank you to our sponsors Kraft Foods (Sydney event) and Luna Park Melbourne for supporting this wonderful family outing.

CAMP BRAINWAVE

On the 22nd of October Brainwave held it’s inaugural ‘Camp Brainwave’ at  Angelsea Recreation Camp.  The camp was designed as a weekend retreat for families from their day to day life. It enabled families to meet others facing similar challenges and to enjoy a fun, social and memorable experience in tranqual and peaceful surrounds. While the children enjoyed outdoor activities on Saturday morning the parents tested their skills in a salsa class and then they all came together for morning tea before heading off to the Giant Swing.  One parent’s comment sent to Brainwave on email, sums up the experience:

“How wonderful an experience we had, sharing time with a great bunch of people facing adverse challenges, disguised as life.  I must say that come Monday morn, I definitely felt a void & am still struggling to fill/ignore this state.  I just wanted to convey my gratitude to yourself & Brainwave for having united us, & for the caring you have displayed.  In a sometimes hostile world, it is comforting to know that refuges such as the one you guys provided have the ability to take the edge off the harsh realities that abound in our lives. Thank you once again for such indelible memories”…Mario.

Mario and his wife have two children and Jules their youngest has been treated for the removal of a brain tumour.

Camp Brainwave will be held in both VIC and NSW in 2011. More details coming soon!

Clemenger Group Staff Fund choose Brainwave

The Clemenger Group recently named Brainwave as their charity for The Clemenger Group Staff Fund. For each dollar employees contributed pre-tax, the company matched it. The committee raised $10,000 which is a fantastic effort. The company believes in empowering staff to not only financially donate to worthy not-for-profits, but also donate time, and some of the Clemenger staff will be joining upcoming Brainwave camps to do so.

Thanks to everyone at the Clemenger Group for supporting Brainwave and we look forward to having staff involved in the future.

Parent’s Support Dinner Melbourne

Some of the parents who enjoyed the night

Some of the parents who enjoyed the night

Many parents joined Brainwave in a fun night of singing, eating, riding and relaxing at Luna Park in Melbourne on the 12th March. Designed to give parents a break and allow them to network with other parents in a similar situation, many phone numbers and emails were swapped and everyone had a fantastic time! Some of us even braved the Scenic Railway and had a great view of Melbourne by night!!!

Congratulations to those parents who took up the challenge on the singing bee and did a fabulous job, entertaining us all. Thanks goes to Peter Sullivan, Andrea Lees and Ben Sullivan for providing the music and fun throughout the night and a big thankyou to Luna Park for their continued support.
